Framed 19th century A.H. Dufour map of "Amerique Du Nord" - North America Circa 1830.
This framed hand colored map by A.H. Dufour of North America in the early 19th century is in wonderful condition given it's age.
This map Circa 1830's when printed in Geographie de Balbi - Plate. 28 (As shown in the upper left hand corner of the margin).
- This map locates the settlements of Nacogdoches and St. Antonio.
- In the Pacific Northwest, Oregon Territory extends well into Canada, an early indication of the Fifty-Four Forty or Fight dispute.
- Alaska is Russie Americaine.
- The region in Texas known as the Republic of Fredonia.
(The so-called Fredonia Rebellion was one of three conflicts leading to the independence of Texas. Fredonia was located in northeastern Texas, but is here depicted in the southern portion. Fredonia is rarely seen; found on only a few published maps).
The map professionally framed with acid free mating shows full margins and original centerfold. As well it shows some color fading and mild foxing on paper.
Framed measurements are 14.75 inches in height x 20.5 inches in length.
Unframed measurements are 10 inches in height x 15.75 inches in length.
