Two mid century modern art pottery free form decorated slabs, by Canadian listed potter Ed Drahanchuk for Design Associates and one dated " 64 ".
These two mid century pottery decorative slabs by Canadian Potter and Artist Ed Drahanchuk are fantastically decorated and would make a wonderful addition to any mid century home or on a teak table.
Both dishes are clearly marked on verso with Ed Drahanchuk stylized monogram and "DA" for Design Associates the smaller one is dated " 64 ".
The measurements of the larger dish are height 2 inches x length 9 inches x width 8.5 inches.
The measurement of the smaller dish are height 2 inches x length 7 inches x width 7 inches.
Ed Drahanchuk of Drahanchuk Studios & Gallery located on Quadra Island, British Columbia. In cooperation with his wife, Ethel, and architectural scultor Bob Oldrich, he established Ed Drahanchuk Design Associates in Southwest Calgary in 1963, the year he graduated from the Alberta College of art.
In 1969, he moved into a specially designed 5600 square foot studio/residence. This building won an award as one of Canada’s best designed buildings for the decade 1960-70.
In 1975 he moved and set up a new studio on Quadra Island, B.C.. He has participated in ninety government and gallery exhibitions, in fifteen countries. Many of his pieces were purchased for Canadian embassies.
